Lafayette - Trent Eugene Smith, 62, Lafayette, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11:37 a.m.
Trent was born in Lafayette, Indiana on December 1, 1963.  He was the son of Elizabeth A. (Harvey) Smith and the late Charles A. Smith, Jr.  He was a life resident of Lafayette where he attended Lafayette Jefferson High School.
He formerly worked at Wabash National in Lafayette and later at DeFouw Chrevrolet in Lafayette.
Trent leaves behind his mother, Elizabeth Smith, Lafayette; a daughter, Jessica (Mike) Ray, Lafayette; a son, Brent (companion-Charlotte) Smith, Lafayette; a sister, Bridget (Jamie) Muse, Lafayette and a brother, Tony (Tami) Smith, Lafayette; 12 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Smith, Jr.
A memorial gravesite service will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica on Thursday, July 16th at 1:00 p.m.
