Hillsboro - Tricia Janelle Nelson, 47, Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at home on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 5:30 a.m.
Tricia was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Illinois on September 18, 1978. She was the daughter of Robert Michael "Mike" and Latricia Ann (Drollinger) Nelson. Tricia was a life resident of the Hillsboro community, graduating from Covington High School.
Tricia was an active member of the Sterling Christian Church, where she enjoyed singing in the youth choir and with her grandfather's band. Tricia enjoyed country music and doing line dancing. She was active in Special Olympics, participating in swimming, track and bowling. She enjoyed going to church camp at Hanging Rock. She enjoyed roller skating and was an animal lover. What ever animal showed up on the back porch, she became attached to it. She enjoyed working in the family garden, especially snapping green beans. She also enjoyed shelling hickory nuts and peanut shells. You could also find her riding her four wheel gator around the property. She loved her family and church friends.
She leaves behind her parents, Mike & Ann Nelson of Hillsboro; her maternal grandmother, Rosemary Drollinger, Kingman; three siblings, Brad (Amy) Nelson, Veedersburg; Kristi (Steve) Jackson, Veedersburg and Brent (Miranda) Nelson, Attica; 12 nieces and nephews, Riley Nelson, Colt Nelson, Grant Nelson, Nathan Jackson, Madalynn Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Ayden Nelson, Haylee Nelson, Lyla Nelson, Ava Nelson, Macen Phillips and Logan Sentelle. She was preceded by her sister-in-law, Barbie Nelson; maternal grandfather, Harold Drollinger and her paternal grandparents, Roy & Carmen Nelson.
Friends may call at the Sterling Christian Church, 701 S. Sterling Avenue, Veedersburg on Tuesday, March 3rd from 10:30 a.m. until the service time at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Christian Church.
