Attica - Velma Jean (Jones) Stonebraker, 87, Attica, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, IN on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 8:59 a.m.
Velma was born in Rensselaer, Indiana on June 28, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Martha (Ellis) Jones. Velma was raised in Warren County and graduated from Williamsport High School where she was a cheerleader. She later moved to Independence and more recently has lived in Attica these past few years.
Velma retired from working at Radio Material Corp. in Attica. Most people remember Velma as a representative for the Avon Company. She formerly attended the Assembly of God Church in Lafayette. She enjoyed gardening and canning.
On July 2, 1953, Velma married John Paul Stonebraker Sr. in Attica. John preceded her in death on May 18, 2013.
Velma leaves behind her two sons, Michael Stonebraker, Attica and Todd (Judy) Stonebraker, Fowler; a sister, Marcella (Art) Beedle, Attica; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren; a special friend, Cindy Mycroft Richardson, Attica. She was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Stonebraker Jr; a sister, Barbara Foster and a brother, Carl Jones.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, September 9th from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Owen Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, east of Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice.
