Attica - Verna Marie (Timmons) Bray Crawford, 94, of Attica died at 10:24 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Williamsport.
Verna was born on September 10, 1927 in Jasper County, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Marie (Alberts) Timmons. She grew up on the Moody Farm near Wheatfield and attended school in Wheatfield.
Verna married Herman Bray on May 21, 1948 in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1976. She later married Bob Crawford on October 30, 1985 in Attica. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1992.
Verna had worked as a cook for the Davis School near Attica for 14 years. She later worked for RMC in Attica for 17 years and then began cleaning houses in the Attica area for several years. She was always known for her hard work and she loved to dance. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge, both in Attica. She had served on the election board for several years and volunteered her time with the Democratic Women's Party.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah (Clyde) Moore, Attica; a son, Curt Bray (Jayne White), Monticello; a brother, Melvin (Pat) Timmons, Michigan; five grandchildren, Leah Gray, Dax Gustus, Ryan Gustus, Jackie McDivitt & Scott Bray; nine great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a twin sister, Vera Amstutz; a brother, Donald Timmons; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m. with Sam Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Romney. Contributions may be made to the March of Dimes or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
