Kingman - Vernon Ray Sapp Sr., 64, Kingman, passed away quietly at his home in Kingman, with his family by his side, on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 12:15 a.m. following a five year battle with cancer.
Vernon was born in Maysville, Kentucky on January 30, 1961. He was the son of the late Donald Robert and Lula Scott (Purcell) Sapp. Vernon was raised in Independence and later moved to Attica, where he attended Attica High School. He later lived in Veedersburg and Williamsport before settling in Kingman in 1997.
Vernon formerly worked as a delivery man with Fowler Bottled Gas in Fowler, IN. He later worked as a supervisor at Masterguard in Veedersburg until his health required him to retire in 2000.
Vernon was a member of the Christ Gospel Church in Attica. He enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He liked to camp and hike. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On March 30, 1993, Vernon married Annette Trammell in Williamsport, IN.
He leaves behind his wife, Annette, of 32 years along with seven children, Vernon Sapp Jr., Attica; Jason Sapp, Veedersburg; Heather (Bryan) Simpson, Georgetown, KY; Tiffany Sapp, Kentucky; Willie (companion-Sierra Hayman) Sapp, Kingman; Megan (Juan) Briones, Crawfordsville and Kevin (companion-Mariah Brock) Sapp, Kingman; a brother, Donald (Bill Flanagan) Sapp, Cape Coral, FL; fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Pugh and Barbara Goble along with his parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, May 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery, Independence, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Gospel Church, 1112 E. Main St., Attica, IN 47918.
