Escondido, CA - Virginia (Crouch) Tanner Leak, 86, formerly of Attica and had been residing in Escondido, California, passed away unexpectedly in her home in Escondido, California on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Virginia was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 29, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Michael and M. Bernice (Brusveen) Crouch. She was raised in Chicago until moving to Attica in 1945. She was a graduate of Attica High School in 1958 and a resident of Attica area for 52 years. She later moved to Escondido, California in 1977. While living in Attica, Virginia worked as a receptionist for the Community Action of Indiana. Virginia was first married to Charles “Chuck” Tanner and later to William “Bill” Leak. Both husbands preceded Virginia in death. She leaves behind her daughter, Kristy Lynn (Todd) Wolfe, Attica; a granddaughter, Lyndsay (James) Cornell, Lafayette; two grandsons, Jacob (Mackenzie) Wolfe, Veedersburg and Matthew (Amy) Wolfe, Vineland, NJ; five great-grandsons, Cole Cornell, Branson, Bowen, Baylor Wolfe and Weston Wolfe; her sister, Nancy (Jerry) Johnston, West Lafayette; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert B. Crouch and an infant brother, Thomas Crouch along with a nephew, Scott Johnston. As per Virginia’s request, cremation services were accorded her and a memorial gravesite service will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica at a later date.
