Wallace - Vivian Berniece (Fisher) Bryant, 92, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a life devoted to serving others. She was born on July 29, 1933, in Raglesville, Indiana, to Roy and Odonna (Stafford) Fisher.
Vivian graduated from Odon High School before earning a bachelor's and master's degree from Indiana State Teachers College/Indiana State University. She spent her career teaching Home Economics at Wallace High School, Hillsboro High School, and Fountain Central High School before retiring in 1984.
On March 18, 1956, Vivian married Martin Charles "Charlie" Bryant. Her infectious laugh paired perfectly with Charlie's sense of humor, and together they built a life that revolved around family, friends, and community. They raised four children, Diana, Cheryl, Lisa and Mark, in their country home near Wallace, Indiana.
Vivian was Charlie's partner in every sense of the word. If Charlie was running the shoots at Wallace Traps, chances are Vivian wasn't far behind. She was often helping wherever she was needed, greeting familiar faces, or making sure everyone had something to eat.
Many people knew her simply as Mrs. Bryant. Sewing, crocheting, teaching and cooking weren't just hobbies, they were her specialties. Give Vivian some fabric and a sewing machine, and she would turn it into something you would swear came from a department store. If you learned to hem a skirt, bake a pie, or sew on a button, there's a good chance Mrs. Bryant had something to do with it. She shared recipes freely throughout the years, although her famous fried chicken recipe was entrusted to just one person, her grandson, Caleb Duncan.
Some of her happiest memories were made at the family's beloved house tucked among the trees at Raccoon Lake. Vivian loved water skiing, boating, and watching her children and grandchildren enjoy the lake. She never seemed happier than when the house was full and the kitchen was busy.
Vivian was a faithful member of Prairie Chapel Church near Hillsboro, Indiana. She quietly lived her faith through acts of generosity and service. She had a gift for making people feel like the visit mattered, the meal mattered, the moment mattered. Whether you knew her as Mrs. Bryant, Mom, Grandma, 'Tay', neighbor, or friend, you likely remember her with a full heart and a full plate, and that combination says everything about who she was.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Terri) Bryant of Hillsboro, Indiana; daughters Diana Butler (companion Mike Long) of Lewes, Delaware, and Cheryl (Brad) Francis of Lafayette, Indiana; her sisters, Carol (Clarence) Miller and Brenda Dant; grandchildren Kevin (Nicole) Butler, Christopher (Amber) Bryant, Nicholas Bryant, and Madison Duncan; and four great-grandchildren, Dominick, Lillian, Sadie, and KJ Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Odonna Fisher; her husband, Charlie Bryant; her daughter, Lisa Bryant; her grandson, Caleb Duncan; an infant sister Vonda Fisher; her brothers and their wives, Ronnie (Sue) and Larry (Jana) Fisher; her brother in law, Harold Lee Dant.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, on Monday, July 20th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with her granddaughter, Madison Duncan speaking.  Burial will follow in the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery, Wallace, IN.
In lieu of flowers, Vivian requested that memorial contributions be made to the Western Indiana Community Foundation, c/o Wallace Covered Bridge Restoration Fund, or a charity of your choice.
