Attica - Walter Melvin Black Sr. 81, Attica, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:24 a.m.
Walter was born in Clinton, Indiana on August 12, 1941. He was the son of the late Guy and Sadie (Price) Black. Walter was raised and educated in Cayuga, moving to Attica in 1989. Walter worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica from 1964 until his retirement in 2002. He later worked at Basic Auto Sales in Attica from 2010-2021.
During his leisure moments, Walter enjoyed watching old westerns on television and fishing. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren.
Walter married Betty June Alkire on March 21, 1965 in Cayuga, IN.
Walter leaves behind his wife, Betty of 57 years along with two children, Ronda (Chuck) DeLong, Attica and Walter (Barb) Black Jr., Attica; three grandchildren, Mike (Candice) DeLong, Lafayette; Brandi (Victor) Howard, Attica and Zachary (Renee) Black, Fishers, IN; 3 step grandchildren; a very special great-grandson, Michael along with 3 other great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; a great great-granddaughter, Paizley and 6 step great great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, November 3rd  from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
