Fowler - William "Bill" Arden Garriott, 94, Fowler, passed away at the home of his daughter in Fowler on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 6:30 a.m. with his family by his side.
Bill was born at the home place in Warren County, Indiana on February 28, 1931.  He was the son of the late James Roscoe and Nancy Ethel (Hopkins) Garriott.  Bill was raised in Warren County, attending Judyville Grade School and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1949.  On February 21, 1952, Bill was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.  At the time of his honorable discharge on November 20, 1953, Bill had attained the rank of Sergeant (T).
Upon arrival back home, Bill  married Ida Mae Wall on January 30, 1954 in Williamsport. Bill and Ida Mae have been married for 71 years. In 1972 they moved from Warren County to near Dunnington, IN, where they resided for 40 years.  In later years they moved to Fowler.
Bill farmed for several years, later working for Jack Dalton at the International Harvester Implement Company in Williamsport for two years.  Bill then began working as a semi-driver for Strasburger Trucking in Fowler and later with Holley Trucking in Kentland until his retirement in 2001.
Bill was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica; member of the American Legion of Fowler Post # 57.  In his pastime he enjoyed wood working and being with his family.
Surviving with his wife of 71 years are three children, Bill G.  (Pam) Garriott, Darien, IL; Larry "Jake" Garriott, Fowler and Terri Lynn Goodman, Fowler; nine grandchildren, William T. (Erica) Garriott, Melissa (Jared) Kearney, Sarah (Mark) Jacobson; Amy (Bryan) Whistler, Carrie Garriott, Joshua (Ashley) Garriott, Nathan (Megan) Goodman, Adam (Mia) Goodman and Shannon (Goodman) Fose; sixteen great-grandchildren and a great great-grandson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, James and Robert Garriott; six sisters, Clarice Bierley, May Burman, Merle Burman, Helen Cripe, Mary McIntosh and LaVernne Fix.
Bill's greatest joy was spending time with his family, from teaching his kids to farm and raise animals to Sunday dinners, holidays and driving across the country to visit.  He rarely missed a basketball, baseball or football game.  Bill's guidance and love was a huge influence on his children and grandchildren.
Bill will be wonderfully and joyfully remembered.  A very kind soul has moved ahead of us.  He hasn't left us.  He would never do that.  He will forever be by our side.  Listen for his laugh.  His corny, sometimes inappropriate songs and jokes.  I have no doubt that he is preparing a place where we may all be together again.  He is probably building it as we speak.  We will be there Grandpa.  Ready for hugs and laughs.

Friends may gather at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, April 28th from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Bill's life at 12:30 p.m. with Pastors Ron Geyer, Brenda McIntosh and Bryan Whistler officiating.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton County Emergency Medical Services, 604 E.
