Williamsport - Wreatha P. (Troxel) Allen, 93, formerly of Williamsport and had been residing at Autumn Trace in Attica, passed away in Autumn Trace on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 12:58 a.m.
Wreatha was born in Fountain County, Indiana on December 9, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Sherman E. and Edith Opal (Stetler) Troxel. Wreatha was raised in Attica, attending Logan School and graduated from Attica High School in 1945. She has resided in Williamsport since 1979 and moved to Autumn Trace two years ago. Prior to living in Williamsport, Wreatha and the family lived in the Rainsville area of Warren County.
After graduation from school, Wreatha was hired by Charles Hurych to work as a secretary for Paris Laundry in Attica. She worked at Paris Laundry for 2 ½ years and then became a stay-at-home mother to raise her children.
Wreatha married Thornton T. Allen on June 5, 1948 in Attica. Thornton preceded Wreatha in death on December 11, 2016.
Wreatha was a homemaker. She was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church, transferring her membership from the Attica Free Methodist Church in September of 1988. She enjoyed gardening and in 1994 was awarded the top prize in the "Big Tomato Contest" held by the Fountain County Merchants. She was an accomplished pianist, playing for several churches in the Fountain and Warren County area. Wreatha also enjoyed her time spent reading and working puzzles. Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her family.
She leaves behind a son, Perry L. (Kathy) Allen, Williamsport; two daughters, Lenora M. (Tom) Odle and Brenda R. (Robert) DeZarn, both of Williamsport; four grandsons; three step grandsons; a step granddaughter; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob L. (Sharon) Troxel, Milton, FL. She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell D. Allen ; two brothers, Wilbur F. and Harold L. Troxel and a sister, Carol M. Rechkemmer.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, July 14th, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 15th, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jesse Stoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church or the Warren County Sheriff's Department.
